Brynmawr Vs Pontllanfraith

Pontllanfraith 0 v Brynmawr 44

Brynmawr got their season off to the perfect start in glorious sunshine, gaining the maximum 5 points when they overwhelmed the hosts.

Brynmawr got off to the perfect start when Steve Evans broke from a scrum on the half way line and raced into the 22 before giving Richard Addiss a scoring pass which was converted by outside half Matthew Bow. Bow shortly then extended the lead with a penalty as the visitors started to impose themselves on the game. The hosts had no answer to the 15 man running rugby and Brynmawr treated their supporters to glimpses of what they may achieve this season, and crossed for a further two tries from Sipho Nobatano and Steve Evans both converted by Bow. The only surprise was that it took Brynmawr until the 60th minute to extend their lead and gain the bonus point for scoring their fourth try, when from an attacking move by Pontllanfraith Bow intercepted in his 22 and raced clear for a try. The hosts had no answer to the pace and power of the Brynmawr team and conceaded a further three tries in the last quarter scored by Steve Evans and another try each from Addiss and Nobatano, to bring an end to an excellent first day result and performance from Brynmawr.
